HRC Hosts Fleet Feet of Carrboro and Durham for their Saturday Long Run on the River walk

On Saturday 9th, Hillsborough Running Club hosted runners from the Fleet Feet, Carrboro/Durham training programs. It was also the day of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail walk. The weather was perfect. It was awesome to see so many runners and hikers out on the trail between Gold Park and the Occoneechee Speedway Track, and having the Farmers Market in full swing and Weaver Street Market at mid point on the route, it was a perfect morning to be out on the trail.

First Annual LBD 5k: Lace Up to Bring Lewy Down!

June 10, 2017 9:00 am at WakeMed Soccer Park

Join us as we lace up our running and walking shoes to bring Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) down.  LBD is the second most common form of degenerative dementia, affecting more than 1.4 million individuals in the United States.  Despite this, many people have never heard of the disease.  This race aims to raise awareness and funds for LBDA, Inc. so that its research may one day find a cure and in the future we will never hear of Lewy Body Dementia again!

Those who register by May 29, 2017 are guaranteed a free T-shirt.

We look forward to meeting all HRC members at our next trail run. We will meet in the gravel parking lot just after the entrance to the Washington Duke Inn at 7:45.

Please confirm attendance, so that we have enough Bojangles and Krispy Kremes for all.

As always there is no cost for the run or breakfast as long as you are a member of HRC. If you aren’t a member, no problem, membership forms will be available.

See you there!

Occoneechee Speedway 5K –

Today saw great weather and a great venue for the inaugural Occoneechee Speedway 5K Race in support of Scout Troop 328.

The course ran around the historic Occoneechee Speedway track and then took in a mixture of paved and single track trail before finishing on the start/finish straight.

There were historic race cars around the grounds and along the start/finish straight revving their engines for the start of the race. Awesome sound, great start to the race.

HRC members had a great time and are looking forward to next year!
