As previous years, we will be hosting our FREE Turkey Trot for everyone that wants to come out and burn off some calories before the days festivities get under way. We have had some great turn outs in recent years, even when the weather hasn’t been ideal.
We will meet at Weaver Street Market (which will be closed by the way, so the nearest restrooms will be in Gold Park). Be there in plenty of time for an 8am start (for the 1 mile fun run – chase the Turkey), followed at 8.30am for the 5K run. 5K run will start at Weaver St Parking Deck and run toward Gold Park, take in two loops in and out of Gold Park and returning to the Weaver St. bridge to finish. we will time the run on our HRC clock, and provide a water stop in Gold Park, which you will pass twice.
Route map for the 5K is via link below. 1 Mile is from Weaver St. Market bridge to the Gold Park bridge and back.
If you have not considered a Danville, VA run, you should do – small races but very friendly people and beautiful courses. If you think wow, Virginia is a long way to go for a race, please know that from Hillsborough it is about the same distance as travelling to a race in Raleigh. There are several events throughout the year at most distances, some of us took part in the Justice Run (5K/10K) earlier in the year. Visit http://danvillerunner.org/ to keep an eye on race dates for 2018. Tom C / Martin W took part in the Danville Half Marathon last Saturday, along the trails by the river Dan. Great morning for a run too.
The 2nd Annual Fall 5K race was this morning at the Orange County Sportsplex in Hillsborough. A cooler morning and a small field. Runners started at the Sportsplex, ran down toward to the Historic Occoneechee Speedway Track, ran one lap of the track before returning to the Sportsplex.
Winning male time was 18:32 Jacob Green and winning female time was 23:57 Shannon Bush
Join us as we lace up our running and walking shoes to bring Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) down. LBD is the second most common form of degenerative dementia, affecting more than 1.4 million individuals in the United States. Despite this, many people have never heard of the disease. This race aims to raise awareness and funds for LBDA, Inc. so that its research may one day find a cure and in the future we will never hear of Lewy Body Dementia again!
Those who register by May 29, 2017 are guaranteed a free T-shirt. Chip timing provided by Bull City Running Co.
